Brain Sensors for Digital Biomarkers of Alzheimer’s Disease – Arlington, TX

Eligibility Requirements:

  • 55 and older 
  • Have early-stage Alzheimer’s disease or show mild symptoms of dementia.
  • Able to travel to the University of Texas at Arlington research site (Note: a caregiver may provide transportation to the research site and remain with the participant during the hour-long process.)

About the Study:

University of Texas at Arlington researchers are testing two portable medical devices that detect brain signals through a painless scan of the brain. Participants with Alzheimer’s disease complete a one-time, hour-long session and receive a $75 Amazon gift card. Caregivers who assist the trip of the participant will receive a $50 Amazon gift card.

Purpose:

The purpose of this study is to identify digital biomarkers in the brain of people living with Alzheimer’s disease using a non-intrusive device. This study aims to detect and identify potential degeneration in both the brain metabolism and blood circulation changes by using new brain scanning technology for early detection of Alzheimer’s disease.

What is Involved:

This study consists of a single, 1 hour, in-person visit to the University of Texas at Arlington.


Eligible study participants will complete the following study procedures:

  • Complete surveys
  • Attach sensors to the participant’s head to record brain signals for about 14 minutes with 7-minute eyes open and 7-minute eyes closed.
