Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for this study, you must:

  • Be 50 to 90 years old
  • Live in the United States 
  • Consent to participate in all study procedures
  • Have normal memory and thinking ability. If you have noticed a decline in your memory and thinking ability in the past year you may not be eligible to enroll in this study.
  • Know your APOE genetic test results

About the Study:

Banner Alzheimer’s Institute researchers are actively enrolling for the Arizona APOE Cohort Study. This National Institute of Aging (NIA) funded study is open to people age 50 to 90 without memory and thinking problems. The study is looking for people who already know their APOE genetic test results.

Purpose:

The purpose of this study is to track changes in the brain related to Alzheimer’s disease. The results from this study may be used to develop new approaches to prevent or delay the onset of memory and thinking problems associated with Alzheimer’s.

What is Involved:

  • Participants will be asked to complete memory and thinking assessments, PET and MRI brain scans, and a lumbar puncture every two years.
  • Participants will also complete a blood collection every year.
  • This study will last approximately 5 years.
  • Qualified volunteers will be compensated for their time, and transportation assistance will be provided for those living outside of the Phoenix-metro area.
